October 13, 2003 Francis A. Cole Jr., 80, of DeWitt, died at home Monday after a brief illness. Mr. Cole was a decorated Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He was a graduate of Villanova University, class of 1949. Mr. Coleworked for Stevens and Thompson Paper Co. for 25 years and then started Frank Cole Associates. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and was active in many organizations. Mr. Cole was predeceased by his wife, Helen S. Cole who died in 1996. Surviving are one son, Dennis J. Cole of DeWitt; one daughter, Mary Jo White of New Orleans, Louisiana; one granddaughter, Misty Curtis of Syracuse and a great-grandson; three sisters, Kathleen Cole and Joan Stokes both of Alexandria, Virginia, Mary Dowling of CT; several nieces and nephews and Mr. Cole's companion, Laura M. Trambow of Syracuse. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central NY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088 or to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
