WASHINGTON, Jan. 7, 2025 - Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the appointment of 36 members to serve on the newly formed Greenhouse Gas Technical Assistance Provider and Third-Party Verifier Program Advisory Council, informally referred to as to the Growing Climate Solutions Act Advisory Council.

USDA Now Accepting Applications for the 1890 National Scholars Program
WASHINGTON, January 7, 2025 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is accepting applications for the USDA 1890 National Scholars Program, which aims to encourage students at 1890 land-grant universities to pursue career paths in food, agriculture, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines. The application deadline is March 1, 2025.

USDA Celebrates President Biden’s Sáttítla Highlands Monument Designation
WASHINGTON, Jan. 7, 2025— Today, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack praised President Biden’s designation of a new national monument Sáttítla Highlands National Monument in Northern California. The designation protects Tribal ancestral homelands, historic and scientific treasures, rare flora and fauna, and underground aquifers at the headwaters of vital sources of water for communities in California.

Biden-Harris Administration Proposes Protections for Ruby Mountains
ELKO, Nev., Dec. 30, 2024 — Today, the Biden-Harris administration announced steps to protect Nevada’s Ruby Mountains, one of the state’s most unique landscapes. In response to requests from Tribes, conservationists, sportsman and the local community, the Department of the Interior is initiating consideration of a 20-year withdrawal of the Ruby Mountain area from operation of the public land laws, mining laws, and mineral and geothermal leasing laws, subject to valid existing rights.
